Sarah Murray was awarded her British Ballet Organisation Teaching Certificate at the Royal Ballet School. [22/05/07]

2006
Congratulations to Isabel Price
who has been chosen as a Royal Ballet School Junior Associate, and to all
the children who were successful in the June I.D.T.A. exams, especially
Aimee Betty and Laura-Anne Stewart who have been invited to dance in
Manchester for the I.D.T.A. Theatre Awards as a result of their work in
the Grade 5 Modern Jazz exam. [30/06/06]
2005
Sarah Murray has passed with
Distinction the Teaching Foundation Course of the B.B.O. [26/11/05]
Congratulations to Laura-Anne
Stewart who has been awarded a B.B.O. Modern Jazz Scholarship and to
everyone who did so well at the Northumberland Festival. Special mentions
for Clare Maynard, who won a Gold Medal for Ballet and was also runner-up
in the Cabaret Championships, and for Aimee Berry, who tied for the
Classical Aggregate Trophy having been placed first for Ballet and
National and second for Character. It was so lovely to have Emily and
Francesca and Emma, and, of course, Irene and Bev, there for the
cheering! [28/10/05]
Emma Price joined Emily Hughes at
Elmhurst in September and Lydia Redpath, who moved with her family to
Vancouver, has joined the Canadian National Ballet School. Alex and Holly
Moffat, Honor Penman and Holly Purvis have been appearing in Beyond The
Rainbow at the Sunderland Empire this summer. [26/09/05]
Our school show for 2005 is
entitled, Once Upon A December, will again be performed at the Whitley Bay
Playhouse. Our students are currently rehearsing very hard for this
and we hope you will be able to come along and watch on the night!

Emma Price starts
full-time at Elmhurst Ballet School in September and Francesca Moffat has
accepted a funded place on the Classical Ballet Course at London Studio
Centre. Emily Hughes was offered a funded place at the English National
Ballet School but has chosen Elmhurst. [18/07/05]
Seven pupils and students attended
the B.B.O. Easter Course at The Royal Ballet School. Aimee Berry was
awarded the Ruth Berney Cup for Ballet and Laura-Anne Stewart was
presented with the Artistry Award. Wayne Sleep generously added Bursaries
to each of the awards which were presented on stage by the Marchioness of
Londonderry (the former Royal Ballet ballerina, Doreen Wells). [01/04/05]
Francesca Moffat has been offered a full-time funded place on the Classical Ballet Course at the London Studio Centre. Emily Hughes has been offered three years on the full-time Student Course at Elmhurst (after attending the Junior School for a year) where third years are apprenticed to Birmingham Royal Ballet. Congratulations, also, to Fiona Dale who is a member of the Dance Fitness team from the North East who won a gold medal at the Blackpool Championships. [23/02/05]
Katie Collings and Amy McKenzie are sharing the role of "Annie" for Ponteland A.O.S. in March. Ellen Bartlett is to be "Molly". Sophie Bartlett, Rhowena Hall, Amy Higgins and Georgina Lee are among the "orphans" and Sophie Hood, Francesca Moffat, Jenny Smith and Laura-Anne Stewart are also danScing in the show. [15/02/05]

2004
Juliana Haggerty (Distinction) and
Pamela Galbraith are now fully qualified teachers of the B.B.O. Their
Diploma course has involved them being in London for one or two week-ends
each month for the past year and has included study of such subjects as
anatomy, child psychology and music as well, of course, as ballet and
teaching.
Both teachers already have Honours degrees - Juliana in
Physiology from the University of Newcastle and Pamela from the Northern
School of Contemporary Dance. Pamela is studying further for a P.G.C.E.
and also teaches at Dance City.
Both are former B.B.O. Scholarship holders and Juliana
was also a Junior Associate of the Royal Ballet School. Our teacher,
Angela Scorer, has a degree in Dance and Drama. [09/11/04]
Emma Price has been awarded a
B.B.O. Scholarship. Emma won her Ballet Section at the Northumberland
Dance Festival as did Laura-Anne Stewart, Zerrin Azir (Novice) and
Francesca Moffat who was also awarded the Classical Aggregate Trophy. Many
other medals were won including a gold medal for Speech for Emma. [09/11/04]
As a result of her mark for Grade
4 Modern Jazz Francesca Moffat has been recommended for the I.D.T.A.
Scholarship audition. [12/09/04]
Aimee Berry and Emma Price are Mid-Associates of the Royal Ballet School.
Francesca Moffat, Laura-Anne Stewart and Aimee Berry hold British Ballet Organization Scholarships and Francesca was specially commended at the Royal
Ballet School Easter course. Francesca has also been offered a place on the
Pre. Senior Course at The Central Ballet School in London at week-ends.
Laura-Anne Stewart and Sophie Hood have successfully auditioned for Billy
Elliot The Musical and Laura-Anne and Katy Collings are in Fiddler On The roof at the Theatre Royal in October.

2003

After an 'on stage' class with Birmingham Royal Ballet Emily Hughes has been
offered a government assisted place at Elmhurst - two terms in London from
January and then moving on to Birmingham. We are all so proud of her but we
will miss her very much.
Congratulations also to Laura-Anne Stewart and Aimee Berry who have been awarded B.B.O. Scholarships.

NORTHUMBERLAND FESTIVAL
Emily Hughes was the winner of the
Northumberland Modern Championship and was also awarded the Classical
Aggregate Trophy for her age group, the trophy for the highest marked
Modern at the festival and the Adjudicator's Choice Award for Musicality.
Laura-Anne Stewart was awarded the Adjudicator's Choice award for Most
Promising.
Other medallists were:- Francesca Moffat, Aimee Berry, Emma Price,
Clare Maynard and Ellen Bartlett. Tom Berry was awarded an Honours
certificate for Speech and Holly Moffat had a Merit. [1/11/03]

THE KING AND I - THEATRE ROYAL - MARCH

Danie Armstrong is dancing
professionally with Dream Machine in Scarborough, and congratulations to
Sophie Hood who has successfully auditioned for Felling Amateur Operatic Society's
production of "Annie". [17/6/03]

At our school show, "Chance
to Dance", which was performed at the Whitley Bay Playhouse on March
3rd, £220.00 was raised through programme sales in aid of the St Oswald's
Hospice Jigsaw Appeal. [10/4/03]

Congratulation to Emily Hughes who
has been awarded a Senior Associate Scholarship with the Royal Ballet at
Covent Garden, and to Aimee Berry who has been awarded a Northern
Mid-Associate Scholarship - for three years. Emma Price retains her

Royal Shakespeare Company for Much Ado About Nothing at the Newcastle

Emily Hughes has been awarded a further year as a
mid-associate with the Royal Ballet School and Aimee Berry and Emma Price
have been chosen as Junior Associates with the Royal Ballet
School. [21/6/02]

Caitlin Ferguson, Lauren Green,
Emily and Anna Hughes, Clare Maynard, Francesca Moffat, Louis Thain and
Laura-Anne Stewart have successfully auditioned for Annie, at the Theatre
Royal in October 2002. [21/6/02]

At the British Ballet Organization
Concourse at The Royal Ballet School, Emily Hughes was presented with the
Espinosa Cup by former ballerina Doreen Wells, Marchioness
Londonderry.
Together with another pupil, Francesca Moffat, Emily will be dancing at
the B.B.O. Teachers' Concourse at the Lindenbury Studio Theatre, the Royal
Opera House, Covent Garden in May.
Both girls hold B.B.O. Scholarships to further their training and Emily
is a Mid-Associate of the Royal Ballet School. [15/04/02]
